“I want to do something great!” Have you ever heard someone say that? I even heard myself say it… without really understanding the requirements and repercussions of wanting to be someone who does something great.
Sometimes people don’t want to do anything, or be anything if they can’t do something great. Go big, or go home, kinda thing?
But, what about planting great seeds that we may never really see blossom and grow?
-Like a smile, or a hello. Helping kids with their homework. Picking up trash in the neighborhood, holding the door at the store. Apologizing without justifying. Helping someone do the paperwork to get into college if they have a hard time with paperwork.
What about small acts of kindness that change a person’s heart… for forever?
-Like Teaching young adults how to manage finances, not shaming someone who is trying to live better, being hospitable upon a new marriage in a blended family .
What about forgiveness?
Maybe I should have began with forgiveness because forgiveness is the greatest.
I began this little article with an intention of writing about what it takes to be great. But I don’t know a damn thing about what it takes to be someone who does something great.
I just know that the people in my life that have been the most impactful in a positive way have had great love in their hearts. They were imperfect, and loved imperfectly. Yet their love has multiplied in my life.
God works inside of me ❤
Mother Teresa said “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family,”
Ephesians 3:2020″ Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” Mother Teresa
