Have Your Cake, and Eat It, Too Monday

They say “sorry” seems to be the hardest word.

Nope. “NO” is the hardest word. Unless of course you are two. Then “no” is fun and easy.

Pretend you are two, and just say, “no!”

To truly “have your cake and eat it too,” one must enforce their boundaries. True spiritual and mental liberation means honoring the journey of everyone.

Natural law dictates that everyone has the soveriegn right to govern themselves as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others. This holds true across all religions, races, sexes, genders, peoples… space, time.

I happen to live in America with so many privileges, privileges like clean running water, and air conditioning, heat in the winter. Commerce. Paved streets and side walk. Plumbing and commodes that flush. Look at that! I have more than one toilet! Privileges that I acknowledge are not ‘rights’. Privileges that are often more like indulgences. Like being able to order a chocolate cake any way I want it. You know exactly what I mean, don’t you? You do.

Freedom is not free. Freedom must be defended. Often with a ‘no’. If we want to be free personally from obesity, we must create habits like healthy eating and exercise, healthy sleep habits. If we want healthy prices on our groceries for everyone, we might need to keep down the amount of food given away. If we want healthy relationships, it may help communicate in a way that is understanding and honest, and sometimes boundaries must be set.

Ok… How did this get so serious? I’m not saying no to cake.

Matthew 5:7 “Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.”
